How to check bank branch details

Compare the bank name, branch address, BSR code, IFSC and PIN code before relying on a directory entry.

Check which branch the entry describes

Read the bank name and branch name first. Compare the city and full address as well. Two branches can share a similar name, and a bank may have changed its name since the reference was published.

Read the source labels

The BSR details and matched IFSC details come from separate files. A branch name may be available only in the IFSC reference. If the addresses or states differ, our page keeps both source details visible instead of guessing which one is current.

Check the address and PIN code

A matching PIN code points to a postal area. It does not prove that the bank is at a particular building. Post office coordinates and DIGIPINs are not bank locations. Before travelling, check the branch’s current address, opening hours and available services with the bank.

Use the right code for the task

For a money transfer, check the recipient’s IFSC. For a tax-payment query, use the details of your actual challan. For pension work, ask the bank or pension office which branch to contact. A directory entry cannot confirm that a payment was made.

BSR and IFSC have different uses

Send us the page address and explain which detail looks wrong. A link to a public official source helps us check it. Do not send account numbers, passwords, OTPs or private financial papers.
